MuCell Extrusion Applications

While most MuCell Extrusion applications are proprietary to Trexel’s licensees, Trexel has announced a broad initiative with Exxon/Mobil’s Santoprene division regarding the foaming of TPE’s for automotive weatherseals.

Other materials of interest are polypropylene, HDPE, and TPU’s, and Flexible PVC. The technology excels in profiles, sheets, and tubes of thicknesses less than 3mm in thickness and where processors are seeking a medium density product with specific gravity reductions in the range 25-50%. (Polystyrene can be foamed to 96% foam.)
