Trexel to Provide "Designing for MuCell® CD at K 2001Arburg, Engel, and JSW to Manufacture MuCell Parts at Their Booths July 15, 2001 - Woburn, MA - Trexel, Inc. announced today that at the upcoming K 2001 exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany, it will be providing visitors to its booth (Hall 12, Stand D22) with a new CD entitled "Designing for MuCell®. This CD was created to enable new licensees to better design molds and products for the MuCell process and to maximize the achievable benefits. Trexel is the worldwide leader in the development and commercialization of the MuCell microcellular process technology. David Bernstein, Trexel's President and CEO, stated. "We've taken the knowledge that we've accumulated from working with nearly one hundred MuCell licensees and created a CD on designing molds and products for the MuCell Molding process, and on implementing the MuCell Extrusion process. Trexel engineers will be present to answer any questions on the process and potential applications." Bernstein noted that K 2001 attendees will be able to watch MuCell parts being manufactured at the Arburg, Engel, and JSW booths. "This will help potential licensees better understand the technology and its advantages," he stated. Dan Szczurko, Trexel Vice President of Business Development, stated that Trexel licensees have been increasing their revenues by applying the MuCell process to new markets and new market niches. "The MuCell products we will be displaying at K 2001 are having a profound impact on the bottom lines of our licensees and their customers. Manufacturing costs are being reduced through material savings and reduced cycle time. Simultaneously, products are being improved through the elimination of stress, warpage, and sink marks, and better dimensional stability. In combination, this means increased profits and better products." Alex Schroder, Trexel's Extrusion Marketing Director, stated, "Trexel's extrusion group will be present to demonstrate innovative PVC and PS applications and to provide information on the new MuCell Process Development Center at JSW in Japan, which is dedicated to serving our Asian extrusion customers." MuCell Molding Demonstrations Trexel licensees at the following booths will give MuCell molding demonstrations:
Products Trexel will exhibit at its booth (Hall 12, Stand D22) MuCell applications in automobiles, printers, electronic and electrical assemblies, construction products, consumer medical products, and blow molded HDPE bottles. Technical Paper On Wednesday, October 24 at 9:50 AM at the K-PLAST 2001 conference, Kent Blizard, Trexel's Technical Director for Extrusion, will present a paper entitled "A New Cost-effective Modification to Retrofit Twin Screw Extruders for the Manufacture of Microcellular PVC Products." The presentation will be take place at the Swissotel Dusseldorf/Neuss. Those interested in attending should check the program guide for the room location. About Trexel Trexel is the exclusive developer of the MuCell microcellular process technology and has an extensive portfolio of patents in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. Trexel's primary business is licensing the MuCell technology to injection molders, extruders, and blow molders. It also provides world-class engineering support, training and other services to licensees, and supports them with equipment and components integral to the MuCell process. In support of these activities, Trexel operates a plastics development laboratory in its Woburn, MA facility. About the MuCell Technology The MuCell process is suitable for a wide range of injection molded, extruded, and blow molded products as it allows licensees to reduce product costs while enhancing design and processing. MuCell parts, which have a solid-like appearance, contain less material than parts produced through other methods, yet maintain most of their former properties. The process also can eliminate stress, warpage, and sink marks, and greatly improve cycle time. These benefits allow designers to specify lightweight, polymer-saving foam materials for products in which conventionally foamed materials would be unacceptable.
